nonfilled crops at bedtime

I cooked myself some fish last night and made a mess of it
so I gave it to the girls all but two of the girls ate it

so could they be having a prob with hard food what types of wet food could I give them

Some of their beaks have regrown quite a few of them had been debeaked at their last place

Poor girls being debeaked.

Wet pollard mixed wet mash perhaps?

You could wet pellets and make them soft.

Mashed veggies like cooked carrot, pumpkin etc

Mashed hard boiled egg.

You could sprinkle granulated garlic on top or chook spice on top occasionally.

I think that you already make your own yoghurt.

How do I make my own yoghurt ( have looked in wooies for that but its all unsuitable.

They liked the idear of having their food in ice cream containers in stead of the hopper

this morning I damped the layer pellets that were in the ice cream containers the girls fought over it so set up three feed spots two damp ones and the other dry which they ignored but lord Francis ate

why is this they were fine with the dry pellets a while back what has changed
what other damp foods can I give them

Pollard is derived from wheat, you just need to wet it until it resembles a crumble.

I buy cheap frozen mixed veggies for the chooks, usually the small diced up ones, cook it and mix it up with the pollard.

In winter sometimes leftover porridge.

Left over Risoni (pasta that resembles rice)

Left over rice.

Frozen diced spinach, cooked.

Homebrand sardines.

Tin of fish based cat food, higher in protein than dog food.

I try not to over feed them on treats as they don't eat their chook food.

Too much spillage and potential waste with the use of ice cream containers for chook food.

See if you can look in their beaks, maybe they have a sore throat or any mucus or discharge? Eating hard food may cause discomfort.

The newly introduced rooster is eating the normal pellets, whereas the existing girls are now having a preference to softer foods. The girls though older Isa's crops are not as full as they used to be and were eating less.

Other than the age factor why are they eating less and preferring softer texture food?

I have a friend whose flock were recently decimated due to a respiratory infection, she noticed they had a yellow like mucus like substance in their beaks all too late

She too thought that they were eating less because of their age.

Endora passed away in august not sure why or how on a hot day I found her trying to cool herself with too much water drinking later on she did,'t look good
so I put her in the storage side of the shed then I noticed the yellow mucus in her nostrils and throat she passed away a short time later.

tried my best with your advice HH no mucus, discharge or sores in their throats
crops are full tonight with mushy stuff both containers empty
tonight if I caress their crops they are like filled up with a gassy liquid
and it fades away quickly.
