Cinnamon Guinea-Fowl - Topic 2

I went to a club meeting on Saturday and got to address all the members and I told them all about APF so expect a big influx because allot of them have guineas, pheasants and ducks as well as chickens, many new about APF already but quite a few didn't know about online poultry chatting so I had to give the web address out like 100 times. I know there’s a lot of chicken forums but it’s so good to have just one poultry forum especially an Aussie one.

Those colours are much more $$ than all the others and they are in HUGE demand I was told by PA so you may have to wait some time. It’s important to get the right info and we do it out of experience not theory so you know its right.

Any ideas on what the White and Cream sell for? I was told at the Canberra show by a bloke he was looking for them and would pay $1000 for a pair I was a little shocked as I did not think they were that expensive. I have emailed Peacocks Australia to ask what he sells them for.

Are all the cinnamon guinea fowls affected by the eye sight troubles or is it just certain lines? I wonder if that could be indentified and fixed by select breeding.

For what I have learnt not all are affected just a % not sure the exact number sorry

Out of the 6 I have only 1 female has a problem with eye sight but its interesting because a friend also has a female with eye problems too so would be interesting to know if this problem affects females more than males?

i have a male w/ eye problems, but he is my only male so i cant really contribute to that theory

Has to be genetics involved because more than one peoples guinea fowls are affected so maybe need to isolate those affected and not breed from them? maybe?

I would think so too morekeets but the study would be pretty hard to do over such a big area
