Does anyone know when the 2nd Edition Australian Poultry Standards is coming out, seems rome was build in less time :roll:

by the time its out the 3rd will be due

I know what you mean War & Peace come out quicker. Not that I will buy it no p[oint with my heiz varieties

They are doing the final review of the various breeds standards as I type and it will be available as soon as this is done and printing is complete

Here's hoping they start working on the next one as soon as this one is out so we can have it in 3 yrs time.

Will be very intersting to see if there are many standard changes between the two, so than everyone can gripe about the length of time it took to complete.

I was thinking the same thing b&p it will be interesting as you wrote to compare the 2 and with all the delay let’s hope there are enough differences to justify the loooooooong wait. I agree they should have started on the 3rd so it should be ready within 3 or 4 years

Everyone has to remember that the people working on the 2nd edition are volunteering their time. They are not paid to do this and do have lives outside of the APS book hence it IS taking a while

Also they do want to get it as right as possible as this edition may potentially be in effect for as much as 20years before a 3rd edition is considered
So perhaps a bit of ‘agitated’ patience is in order

I do agree however that it will be interesting to see the changes/differences

I think agitated patience ceased long ago Sooz, about the time members were being told the same thing 2 or 3 AGM's in a row........they are working on it, it won't be long now.

Ok volunteers they may be BUT if they took on something like this than it should have been completed in a reasonable time frame.

I have dibs on it still not being completed at my next club AGM in July 2011 and more excuses given.

I think the people are just at the end of their tether to try and obtain any copy of the standards. I have been told when the first edition came out it cost approx $89 ( it could be more or less so dont quote me ) and the last copy I saw on Ebay went for something like $350!! You cant beg, borrow or steal a copy and if you are lucky enough to find a first edition for sale it like winning the lotto.

I have had an order in for 2 years and like everyone 'still waiting' and as mentioned above don't even try to get the 1st edition :roll:
