no one has suggested you deliberately let him out. As an absolute rule ALL new peafowl will fly up in their coop/run/pen whatever term you use it is normal and understandable as they want to get away from humans that just moved them from their home. So checking the roof is the most important and one you now know. There are countless thousands of posts on APF that will help you understand peafowl and ALL you need to know about them is here, I suggest you spend some time HERE on APF reading up and getting the right help and advice after all it’s the best poultry forum
