That's fine. It was you I was thinking of when...

I appreciate anyone and everyone who ever does anything positive for me or anyone else. It makes the world a better place.

The guy I gave eggs to yesterday to put under his clucky asked repeatedly whether I wanted money, eggs, anything. Even though the Buff Orpington eggs cost me a few dollars I stood my ground in saying no. He eventually said there should be more people like me and I agreed entirely.

I am glad there is.

Also meant to put good luck with the buff eggs, they dont seem to have very good fertility from what I have been told.
I am incubating 2doz for a local guy who had them sent up from down south, think he might have 4 fertile, his silkie eggs however are nearly all fertile (these got posted as well)

I saw your "incubator space available" ad and considered doing the same, but you're a little far away. It would be more economical for me to build a new egg roller rack for the fourth shelf of the Kevatron.

When told who I'm getting the non-Buff Orpington eggs from down south, not even one person has given me a positive story. In fact the stories have been     !!!!

No names. No pack drill. If the results are as (now) expected, lesson learned. I won't even bother complaining as apparently that just causes bigger problems and is a waste of time.

Still...I hold out hope that all is well and things have improved. After all, people may same the same about me. I was getting near 100% fertility here at home, but when I sold my eggs briefly late in 2008, the buyers reported poor results.

As for the Buff eggs, I've seen chickens from one of the breeders and the other breeder gave me a fantastic deal due to potential for reduced fertility...or maybe just because of my charm, wit and poisonality. There's about 46 Buff Orp eggs so I should get enough.

Good to see that the Old Motto ' Spread the Breed Not the Greed' is still alive and well ;)

Rebeccomending  love it, & yes they will be bloody good birds.

So long as you get a few buffs out I think it would be worth it.
I paid $60 plus postage on some coro eggs last year, got 2 out of the dozen, put 1 down straight away from deformaties, the second, well she grew up to be a crooked necked ditz!!!!! (kind of runs around with her head bent on an odd angle upside down & sideways) Havent had the heart to do the chop yet, or was that she cost a fortune!!!!! hmmmmm.
After all this I stumbled on a local guy who breeds & shows them & now have 5 pretty good coro.

Anyway back to the buffs, it just seems to be the breed, kinda like the indian games, they lazy ect & fertility is low.

Rebeccomending. Maybe that should be Rebecummending.

FWIW (and it's worth a lot), the majority of the Buff eggs came from Rebecca Cummings out at Purga, via Ipswich. Rebecca gave me a very good deal and a few fantastic lessons. Both times I've come away having learned a lot.

Rebecca has offered me a lovely Buff Orpington cockerel. But I felt it best to wait until I have adequate pen space before bringing him home. It wouldn't be fair to take him from the penthouse suite to some rundown room in a back alley hotel.

I will be putting him over my big black layers to create big fluffy layers. ;)

I very highly Rebeccummend Rebecca Cummings as both a person and as a breeder doing her bit for her chosen breeds. She has Silkies, too, but none were for sale. Darn. :-)

I don't want them or need them...for me.

I need them only long enough to give them to someone who wants them for his daughters. They help him out with the chooks and deserve a Silkie each for their efforts. The benefit of course is that they will sit on eggs for him. The Silkies, not his daughters.

While the batch I got from him is the batch the rotten eggs were amongst, it's the thought that counts. Maybe if I wasn't so demanding he wouldn't have needed to collect eggs for so long to satisfy me. Maybe if I wasn't so selfish and greedy I wouldn't have set the dirty or questionable eggs.

I was just trying to give every potential chicken a chance.

The eggs wanted in the original topic were needed by 05/07. We're not really doing any harm here.

I re-affirm, firmly, I do NOT need or want Silkies (for myself). th_Noooo.gif
