6-7 dozen - sorry but I cant help - everyone here thinks its too cold to bare their bums to earn their keep!

But

a Wedding in the future - - - - - 1,000 eggs - mind boggling isnt it!!
I have to wonder what I would do with even a 50% hatch tho

and I have now officially 'bumped' this back up
hopefully you get a FULL incubator

Yes. This does seem to be a problem I'm up against. There are not a lot of eggs being laid.

Hopefully by getting the "Eggs wanted" message out there early will help.

An ad is being put up on a noticeboard at some local shops. I gave it to them on Saturday but they said they'd need to re-write it themselves so it fits their noticeboard. Maybe the A3 poster wasn't such a good idea after all. ;) :lol: :lol: Kidding, of course.

I would have thought it was just wet and yr chooks were all learning to swim instead of laying [ :oops: not funny I know!!] - never occurred to me it might be 'freezing'

so how many eggs are being seen each week - this question is for greenaus as well

and it is now bumped back up

Oooh...I can't answer that exact question here without going off-topic. ;)

What I can say is the 0-3 eggs a day that I get from my three Australorp pullets that I picked back up on Saturday are promised to others for almost the entire fortnight leading up to my intended incubation commencement date. It is unlikely I will be putting any of them into the incubator.

I got three eggs Saturday, three on Sunday and none Monday. One of the four two-year-old black layers laid an egg Saturday, but none of them has laid since. As cross breeds I do not intend to add their eggs to the incubator.

I organised another two dozen pure breed eggs today. They will be discounted due to the potential for reduced fertility. A much bigger discount (aka "free") would have been very welcome, but my good looks, charm and poisonality can only get me so far....or not. :lol: :lol: :lol: Besides, networking with someone who specialises in one particular breed can certainly do no harm and may come in handy when I have breed-specific questions. I already learned a few things today.

It's wet and Cold , but I'm still getting the Odd egg ;) They're only just managing to swim to their nesting boxes through the ice cold water :-D So I'll still have a Dozen or more for you .

Great. Thanks. All pure breed fertile eggs gratefully accepted.

I put a Wanted to Buy notice on the board at the IGA in Gatton.

I got the following email. Enjoy.

Dear sir/madam,
We are 7 girls, 3 of us from Hong Kong and 4 of us from Taiwan. We are holding the working holiday visas of Australia. We saw your notice on IGA's board and we are very interested of the job. We called you today but nobody answer.
Would you please let us know where is the work place, when will start work and pay by hourly or contract?
We are staying in Caravan Park of Gatton. We are hardworkers and fast leaners.
It would be great if we can get a chance to work in your place!
Here is my contact number : 04******** We are looking forward for your reply.

A high school over on the South side of Brisbane (North West of Logan) with a big agriculture department bought about 30 of my Australorp and Australorp X chickens last December.
chicken.gif
I visited them this morning to see how they're going.
[smilie=a_withstupid.gif]
The staff said they would like a bigger variety, not so much numbers, just variety. I told them I intended to incubate in a bit over a week and said that as long as I hatched out enough, I'd bring them at least one of each breed.
[smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]
So...as an incentive for you guys to "share" your eggs with me, be aware that (unless you tell me otherwise) at least one of your chickens is likely to be going to a really good cause.
[smilie=18_13_1.gif]
The school also takes their chooks to primary schools to educate the younger kids. A bigger variety of colours, shapes, breeds will improve the interest level.
wav.gif

I'm going to Beaudesert tomorrow and can grab a few 1-2 day fresh eggs from you that will still be up to 10 days fresh when I incubate...unless I set some a few days early. PM me if you're prepared to meet me there (or on the way to/from) with some eggs. thinkerg.gif

I am after more large breed eggs and only want pure breeds with a preference for breeds with plenty of size and a friendly personality to them. Note: No Coronation Sussex. No Australorps unless the parents conform reasonably well to the standards.
NO Australorps (breeding plan)

Most other large breeds still very much appreciated.

None of the following have been promised to me yet.
RIR, Light Sussex, Brahma, Indian Game, New Hampshire, RIR, Faverolles, Jersey Giants, Emus, Ostriches, or Boa Constrictors

I'm a little surprised there hasn't been more offered.

Please don't think that because the first two lots offered at mate's rates were from top quality birds from very good breeders that I'll be offended by your offer of eggs. I'm really not that nasty. ;)

While more eggs from show quality birds would be appreciated, I know that's not likely to happen.

I'm happy to fill the rest of the incubator with good quality, pure breeds at bargain prices (the more "bargain" the better).

Best to PM or email with those bargain prices before I win tomorrow night's $90m OzLotto draw. ;-) What goes around, comes around. :-D
