It was $200 or $250. When he couldn't get any offers at that he came back as far as $100 but still no takers. 
They were then stood aside. I was talking to the breeder of them later and he told me that they did sell to someone privately. I didn't ask the price as I thought that would have been rude. I think people expected there to be some huge reserve on them......but I don't think there was. Obviously the breeder would want a little bit of recognition for them though so wouldn't accept anythong less than their worth. I reckon they should have made in excess of $200. That's less than $70 per bird and they were something special.I would have bought them myself if I knew enough about breeding them correctly, but I felt I couldn't do them justice. 
I can't argue about where the auctioneer tried to start the bidding.It very well could have been at$400, but I did think it was lower than that.Maybe the fact that he came back to $250 pretty quickly got me confused. 
Anyhow I do know that he came as low as $100 and never got a bid
