What breeds are considered "Rare Breed"?

They will be recognized if breeders follow the laid down procedures for the development of a new breed,keep good records & photos. Get them shown, by a number of breeders, in Display classes at as many shows as possible.
Good luck with them, they are just not my cup of tea.

Thanks Rocky , We'll do our best , We'll gladly admit they weren't our cup of tea either when we first got them , My Daughter still calls them "Ugly Necks" :lol:

But whatever they are they are most certainly "Rare"

Anyway I'm not Normally one for giving "Free advertising" But I'll give this book another Plug , Ive mentioned it earlier in this thread allready , But I'll say it again , It's called "POCKETFUL of POULTRY" by Carol Ekarius . You can buy it from Dymocks and as I said Before it has The conservation Status of All of the breeds , And some are Really interesting , for instance , The Malay is listed as "Critical", The Langshan is listed as "Threatened", The La Fleche is also "Critical",Even The Campine is listed as Critical , Anyway..... I won't go into the whole book , But it is well written and Obviously Well researched , and Well worth Buying If you'd like to know whats rare and whats not .

Depends were you are, were was this book written?
I have a friend in Italy ,he has just taken on Malays due to their rarity in Europe, in my wife's home area they are the most common breed, around where I live (NSW) they are fairly common,certainly not critical or even endangered.

so are oxford game oegs? and are they rare

Oxford OEGs are the pit fighting type,in no danger of dieing out. They are judged by weight classes,not by colour,they are not included in the Australian Standard.Carlisle are the exhibition OEG,the type you see at shows,and are the bird in the Australian Standard. OEG Bantams had no large fowl OEG blood in them when they were developed.
