Hi,
I am pleased that you do think so much of my line. I have been trying to improve all my lines in the last few years and to get good feed back so publicly is great. Size is what I have been trying to get and it is a slow process. Some of my birds are massive now and I have to watch the boys with the girls as they can hurt them with the weight. I should weigh them sometime. I have been very happy with most of what I bred this season but have culled hard also. Like you I have about 300 birds. Helps when you get a lot of free grain thanks to hubby.
Enjoy your orps they are beautiful to have around. Rebecca is after some of my splash. I am hoping to get them to her about the end of April.

Been off line phone wise for nearly a week!! So slow on the uptake with THIS subject - and meeee!!! the obsessed Orp breeder!!!!
Sooooooo glad this positive public feed back has been posted!! :-D :-D - it would be good if this happened more often but the reality is that most don't care enuff to do it = THANK YOU Dean's Poultry for having the consideration to do so!

Anyway - glad they come from Yvonne's lines - going on pics they are very good birds = my only gripe [and she knows this] is their size = toooo small tooooo small [for MY liking LOL = I like HUGE birds] - BUT that Splash roo!!!! Now he is getting there size wise!!! Glad she kept him!! And yep - Yvonne is working hard to up the size [keep up the good work Yvonne!!]
My biggest Blue boy 'Richard' weighed in at 10.2kg - his son [a black] -Richard Jnr - at 12mths weighs 10.89kg!!
The Blue have always been the largest so this Black boy is a big suprise and a bonus - putting him with some 'mutantly large' Slate Cuckoo girls and 2 regular Cuckoo colour girls to up the size there too.

  I went off subject big time!! SORRY!!!
Soooooo glad these birds are from Yvonne and Clives lines - cant wait to see pics !!!

Thanks!! We're glad we're back too = teenagers!!

My lines  - hmmmm - mixing with Yvonnes and Clives = that could be an 'interesting' mix - hmmmmmm - got me thinking now!!!! I'm always prepared to experiment with quality lines with good genetics. I don't blend anything into my original lines of course - I keep them pure - but I have developed lines from them specifically to experiment with.

10kg+ - nope thats fast becoming pretty much standard around here - my largest girl is over 8 and the smallest over 6 - see - told you I like my Orps 'big' - bear in mind we also have Jap Bantams  - I mean what else can we do but have largest and smallest and a few others in between.

Sue at a guess, how many grams of feed do ya reckon those big boys would be eating each day? Not that it worries me in the slightest, just curious is all :-D
