you can zoom from the bottom of your screen or if you have an Ipad just stretch the screen.
If I am allowed I will try to copy the text for you.
" Australian Importation Syndicate Latest:
With many conflicting stories on this delicate matter, we decided to wait as long as possible before bringing you any news, and from the man in charge,David Spackman ... This is the situation; After the original bird tested positive for Salmonella Pullarrum, the whole consignment of over 4,000 birds imported from eggs, faced execution. With much lobbying and international support, the Australian officails granted a stay of execution. followed by the granting of further testing at the expense of the syndicate.
A rapid plate test was carried out on cage mates of the original suspect dead bird and 3 positive reactors all of the same breed type as the original dead bird , were found and removed. However a further 50+ other chicks in the same cage were all negative. Up to 2000 other birds of the 4400 in other cages were tested again ALL testing completely free of the disease. Sadly a break-away group in the syndicate made a decision for all concerned and a complete cull was ordered. This was completely unnecessary, and had the remaining birds been tested for the disease (which is already in backyard flocks in Australia - as everywhere else in the world), they could have been with their respective owners by now. This decision was purely political rather than scientific."

I hope I got it correct as some letters were a little blurry.
I still hope that there may be future for imports and they get the issues sorted out to allow it.

I assume that it was the newsletter sent to those involved at the Uk side of the import.

They were worried about the financial risk blowing right out and may have put some members at risk of going insolvent.

Are you sure it was members from within the syndicate that ordered the cull and not the government officials??

That does not read true to me. Why cut any hope of recouping your costs?

If the birds did indeed fail the testing then they would have been ordered to be destroyed by the authorities, irrespective of the wishes of the syndicate.

Sorry to question. It just sounds weird to me.

What a load of rubbish!
The destruction order was issued by DAFF and only DAFF no "break-away group" can make a decision for a syndicate on that level and for what reason? it makes no sense what so every for ANY member to want a "complete cull" after $600,000 spent  more tested positive to the deadly exotic disease and that was the end of ALL the fowls in quarantine AS PER DAFF IMPORTATION REGULATIONS.

Quote:

Someone needs to read the DAFF IMPORTATION REGULATIONS as this is completely incorrect NO FOWL can be released if ANY disease is detected, in ANY live birds NOT 1, ZERO, ZILCH, 0, ZIP, THATS A FACT! as for the claim this exotic disease is in backyard flocks well as I have said over and over and over again PROVE IT! show us study proof from all the states in Australia.

Now note the ANY above, that means if ANY DISEASE is detected and that includes diseases ALREADY HERE in Australia, yes ANY DISEASE even a runny nose and they are ALL terminated, they do NOT release some of the birds ALL ARE TERMINATED, as per DAFF REGULATIONS and Australian LAW.
