I think there should be another attempt BUT not using the current source flock in the UK. I think an all new and well tested source flock needs to be acquired and a new committee set up with more open communication to the poultry world in Australia. A web site set up with all the facts and figures on it and pictures of the source flock so people that want to go in can see what they MAY get if they get out of quarantine.

Yes I agree with Bill

It all needs to start from scratch and I would employ a professional as the coordinator someone with experience from the poultry industry to be in control and know the system well

I can't see a second one ever happening after the debacle of the first and you would want insurance if it did

NO its a waste of money we have plenty of good breeds here that need more work first

I doubt insurance could be an option especially after the first disaster

I was going to be in the second syndicate but not now my money is to hard to earn these days to waste it

Those who invested in the syndicate were quite naturally going to hang onto the genetics as much as possible for as long as possible.
I wonder whether it would be possible to spread the risk by taking on more people for each breed and setting up an organization to breed them up once in the country and distribute them to stakeholders.
That way people would not be gambling big amounts and there would be a much more rapid dissemination of the genetics.
