The streaker at the Rugby has reportedly set up a site asking for 'donations' / assistance to pay his fine! I'm sure that's not registered with the ATO.
argy-bargy shenanigans.

 the streaker is not a syndicate thats why I asked as I thought they may be registered?

I agree lots of shenanigans

Quite right Blak1 but the legality is not the real issue.
The question is whether the syndicate members have a moral claim for public financial support to assist them with their purchases, particularly in view of their high handed attitude to the general poultry community before their problem arose.

EXACTLY RIGHT! a_bravo.gif

I had heard of this importation long before I joined APF, there were a couple of breeds of interest to my project on breeding a sound legged meat chicken for free range use. Now I found out about that without all the fuss that has been happening in the 27 pages of comments that I have just scanned.

What fuss Bob its called input and discussion

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
I happen to believe that people who are undertake such projects can given credit for having the knowledge to source stock of appropriate quality for their purposes. If they did not, the whole benefit would collapse, as is so obvious from all the comments that have been made over and over on this forum.

A UK poultry judge selected the source stock eggs. Yes we will make comment and sometimes more than once to give BALANCE

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
People want to see the breeding stock, they want to see the British Quarantine Facility ( I suggest very few people ever get into such quarantine facilities, any visitors are too much of a risk).

No we don't want to see the UK quarantine we wanted to see the source stock as would any potential buyer or syndicate member when forking out your hard earned cash.

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
The sheer cost of all this, demands that the progeny must return a higher price. $50 a bird, i think not, double it would be fairer given the output and obvious risks, and these risks were obvious at the start, not just now.

I agree most will ask VERY high prices like the UK budgerigars but Bob will they pay back the donations when they start making money? I think you will also find some will ask 4 or 5 times that $100 you mentioned $$$$$

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
I find it sad that there seems to be an element of 'knocking' from the group because no information was forthcoming as I can see it. Perhaps that should have been an element of their 'marketing', but they were also no doubt aware of the risks, and over-hyped expectations. The more publicity, the worse that would be. As it is, it is going to be bad enough.

What you call "knocking" we call balanced discussion and the secrecy and lack of info was bizarre and I feel badly handled. As for expectations well I think with the secrecy I don't think that is high.

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
They are all identified by number.

What are all the numbers for every known strain?

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
By my reading after I first saw the report, Pullorum is regarded as being present in Australia in backyard flocks, but not commercial flocks. One cannot believe all that is found on line, but I was convinced.

AGAIN we have been over and over and over this, this is by DAFF and ACMF statements an EXOTIC strain

Bob_the_Beeman wrote:
There needed to be better explanation and information from AQIS to justify this for me to support their action. I suspect the wording they have used, I need specifics.

Give DAFF a call and demand an explanation and information to justify their import policy.

Bottom line here.
Quote:
The onus is not on DAFF to prove anything if you read the import protocols on the DAFF web site you will read and I quote "The import protocols, which have been in place since 1998, require an absence of disease for the chickens to pass quarantine. Importers are made aware of the requirements when issued an import permit" this mean ANY disease full stop.

I have been contacted by Members regarding unsolicited junk email they have received asking for money in relation to this syndicate. If you receive these emails please PM me the senders email address or email it to Admin so I.T can ban the sender or senders from the Forum and blacklist the email address as this is against our forum rules. I also recommend you report the sender to you internet provider as unsolicited junk email

Some of the emails have been sent to children with very unhappy parents about it .

I vote YES and I have all faith in the department for keeping Australia safe from disease.

I have sent the The Hon. Joel Fitzgibbon MP the link to this poll to show him many poultry people do support their hard work and that of the poultry industry.

Thank you to this forum for being honest and factual

Well done to you all
