Yes this is very sad and for the members of the syndicate,
You would think that after 5 weeks the department of agriculture would have check all possibilities before they made their decision or are they just playing it safe?

Its a big task to even try to check 4000 chicks and its takes time to get results.

The bottom line is any risk in their view is an unacceptable risk and thats the way it is.

We have waited a long time for this, what is an extra six weeks for testing to those who have been waiting and have a positive outlook towards the syndicate and all that it has been working towards. This one week old dead chick is the only isolated case where traces were supposedly found in all the testing that has been done before or after. If like me you are unhappy with this decision to kill thousands of healthy rare birds that have been cleared by testing for the risk of a disease which is already in Australia, then PLEASE take a few minutes out of your day to send a message to Mr Joel Fitzgibbon requesting a STAY ON THE DESTRUCTION ORDER to allow a "Test out Procedure" to take place.

As much as I admire you passion and I do BUT no amount of emails will change the biosecurity laws in place and biosecurity practiced with success in this country and the fact that 1 bird has tested positive to a serious bacteria that may or may not be a new salmonella strain? is of concern.

I agree with fowlman and I doubt your email will even be read but if they are on what president are you asking for a "stay of destruction" sad I see a small fake site elsewhere trying to get a few realones online on the back of this very sad situation.

I feel the syndicate would get more support in their time of need if it had of been open and forthcoming with information from the start very few outside the syndicate know much about it as it was a well kept secret and the only person I have seen anywhere that has been open with info was Terry @ rare breeds poultry and thank you Terry.
