Thanks Raf, they really are adorable. The floor is a little slippery for them, but it was the best place to take a photo of them as they couldn't run away to quickly before i could get a good photo. :lol:

Hi PP

Here is a picy of Lolly and Pickle from a couple of weeks ago. They are coming up to 5 weeks old this Friday. This was when they were about 2 to 3 weeks old :-D

I had a lady tell me that her friend (so we're getting into chinese whispers territory here) said that girl aracuanas have a good size pom pom on their head and the boys have a more cotton wool neck with a smaller pom pom on their head.

What do you think about those comments?

They are very cute, never

had an Araucana chick of either sex with a pom pom.

I could always tell that the males I had SIX out of SEVEN hatch, had more red around their combs and wattles also had really BIG feet from a very young age.

The only girl Thing 2, now know as Henrietta was always rather pretty with nice muffy tufts and shyer than all her brothers, including Wheezy and Muffy, but Wheezy and Muffy were really hard to sex until they crowed, because they were pretty and shyer than their brothers :roll:

Hmmm that's interesting. Both Lolly and Pickle have pom poms on their heads it just that Lolly's is bigger than Pickles and Pickle really does have a thick cotton wool neck. I was thinking that Lolly was a boy due to the thicker legs compared to Pickles dainty little legs but the lady told me that she has had hens with really thick legs so couldn't tell until they crowed or dropped their first egg either, but reakons her friend swears by the pom poms on their heads is true.

I will have to re-look at Lolly and Pickles combs and see if they look any different. I was looking at your earlier pics (around page 7,8 or 9 of this post) to see if your brood had pom poms and I couldn't see them either. Hence I thought I would ask.

Really sorry that I couldn't be of more help re those pom poms, maybe there are more experienced Araucana breeders out there who can be of more assistance than I! They can be a difficult breed to sex :roll:

The Lavender Gang (definitely all MALE) at a similar age to Lolly and Pickles.
