Good idea at least that way like us you will get proper accurate records of breeding

There is so much unadulterated rubbish being circulated by some inexperienced junior breeders that it’s astonishingly to everyone who actually breeds cinnamon and is beyond stupidity and plain BS! The gene for Cinnamon in Australia is sexed linked! But of course 1 or 2 won’t accept due to total stupidity and lack of knowledge!

Ok so
Pen#1 - silver cockbird to cinnamon hen = 11 keets, 6 x cockbirds and 5x hens - 3 cinnamon (as expected and as per sex linked)
Pen#16 - cinnamon cockbird to silver hen = 15 keets 9 x cockbirds and 6x hens - 3 cinnamons (as expected and as per sex linked)
Pen# 23 - silver cockbird to 2 x cinnamon hens = 31 keets 19 cockbirds and 12 hens 5 cinnamon (as expected and as per sex linked)

I could go on and on from this year and go back many years unlike the beginners trying to reinvent the wheel with unproven home experiment with no proof. :roll:

Cinnamon is sex linked, always has, always will be :-D

Edit to add the "official" genetics chart viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10532

FOR THE LAST TIME MY FREE RANGE GUINEA FOWL CONSIST OF 50% SPLIT COCKBIRDS ONLY NO CINNAMON OR SILVER IN THE FREE RANGE REPEAT NO CINNAMON OR SILVER IN THE FREE RANGE REPEAT NO CINNAMON OR SILVER IN THE FREE RANGE ONLY SPLIT COCKBIRDS - For the record I have a large flock of free range guineas [pearl/cinnamon and lavender] that have MANY splits possibly 50% in the flock. I have fairly equal number of cockbirds and hens and most are related. I have NEVER had a cinnamon appear in my flock EVER, that is EVER, not one, NEVER which is no surprise to me as they are sex linked so no split hens Now I have just added to the flock 3 silver hens and now I will see if I breed cinnamon which I believe I will because silver is also sex linked in red eye only.I have bred many, many, many cinnamons but from cinnamon to cinnamon or cinnamon to silver or split cockbird to hen sexed linked not split to split as that's not possible I HAVE JUST REPEAT JUST ADDED 3 SILVER HENS TO MY FREE RANGE REPEAT FREE RANGE. SO WHAT PART OF THIS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND. AS I HAVE STATED NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE MANY BREEDING CAGES WITH CINNAMON AND SILVER GUINEA FOWL THAT IS CALLED CONTROLLED BREEDING. IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO READ THE RESPONSES PROPERLY INSTEAD OF GOOGLE SEARCHING THEN YOU MAY UNDERSTAND AND LEARN.

THE END....

I apologize to everyone else for typing in bold but it maybe the only way to get through I hope :roll:

Ace

Hi Ace, sorry I am very slow

try 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 or 1 in 100000 or 1 in 10000000 if they were NOT sexed linked and WERE recessive as you hypothesize then I should have lots and lots on cinnamons running around by now as I have dozens of defiant split cocks and I would have SPLIT HENS under your hypothesis which I don't of course.

Here we are, going around in circles again.

Try read through more carefully.

If it were recessive as you are arguing here and on a chicken site then 25% pearl, 50% pearl (splits) and 25% cinnamon in both sexes. As I wrote over and over again I have NEVER had a cinnamon appear in my flock EVER, that is EVER, not one, NEVER NOT ANY SEX see above for explanation on why.

I have posted the basic genetics for you please read it carefully then look up pairing Lavender = Recessive to Cinnamon = Sex Linked and hopefully you can learn :-D

Colour Genetics of Guinea Fowl

Pearl Grey = Dominant
Lavender = Recessive
Silver [red eye] = Sex Linked
Cinnamon = Sex Linked
White = Incomplete dominant
Pied = Incomplete dominant

This is the current genetics table

SPLIT CINNAMON PEARL TO PEARL DOES NOT PRODUCE CINNAMON HENS "STRAIGHT OFF THE BAT" you are WAY off the mark, please try listening and reading carefully and reading the genetics I have posted over and over again ;)

Hi ace, you 100% right as usual, than657
