white peafowl smaller?

Are the white peafowl supposed to be smaller than the normal blue peafowl and do they grow at a slower rate than the blue normals. One of mine is a third less the size of the blues I have and not sure if that is normal or if she has some health problem that is stopping her grow to full size. She will be 2 in november and has not grown much in the last 12 months and she also does not seem to like the blue boys I have and seem to be a loner

Well worth reading and will answer your questions.
As a thought are you sure you white peahen is a loner or has she been driven out by the blues.
In many instances such as a white mutation the 'normals' drive out the 'odd' individual, this applies to most species not just the peafowl.

Yes sorry found that after i posted and yes did answer my questions. The blue normals don't seem to pick on her she just runs off if they go near her for some reason but may be they have been mean when I first got her and she remembers or something?

My white peahen is smaller than my blue peafowl but not much but I can see it when they stand together

I have 3 pairs of whites and all the females are smaller that the indians that I have 1 of the 3 is almost half the size of the indian females so I just assumed it was normal like in allot of other white birds

I have some a little smaller but I also have some that are the exact same size so may have more to do with particular lines of whites or the smaller peas had a deficiency as chicks maybe a natural deficiency?

from what i have read Tolmie is spot on here, I to have had it drummed in to me, its all about the first few months... the whites i have are on par with the others, for their age,,,, hope they stay on par as they grow a little older.

If you read PA's article he explains the common reason with breeding and from my experience he's right but yes diet would and is very important from day one

It makes sense to me to strengthen the colour like we use in dogs breed

If she shows no sign of ill health she will probably be just a small bird and give you white chicks eventually
