What do you mean by hard feathered and soft feathered?

Ok Rubberparrot i will try to answer. From what i believe from reading a hard feathered bird is mainly the Game or Fighting birds as their feathers are tight fitting to the body. Soft feathered birds are generally utility birds and the feathers are much looser with more fluff.

hi rubberparrot go to the online show and look under(CLASS) and it can give you and idea of which breeds are hardfeather and which are soft feather

You don't sound ignorant to me , Just honest and openminded , Glen has summed it up perfectly for you (thanks mate) ,

when you look at the "Hardfeathers " they are shiny and the feathers sit flat and tight to their body "similar" to a Magpie ...

when you look at a "Softfeather" , the feathers are soft and loose, similar to an Emu .....

im not a %100 on this but i think that hard feathered birds have a high pitched crow and soft feathered birds such as orps, sussex and so on have a very deep throated crow. this is what i was refering to in another topic. am i right about this anyone?

actually what i ment with the last post and another topic you should be able to tell wich is a hard feathered and soft feathered crow without looking at them. not sure if im making anysense for anyone or even stating the obvious. leigh :-?

Thank you all so hard feathers are the birds like oeg's malay's sebright's ect and soft feathers are what most people have as the "backyard" chook sussex, australorps, isa browns and pekins ect..... Thanks I got it now I think!!! :-D

Seabrights are softfeathers, it is to do with the angle the feather makes with the skin. Small angle-close feather-hard feather an advantage in fighting fowl.
Large angle-open feather-softfeather. All none game birds
