Hi Lou,

I really like this idea. I wish there was someone down here that would do it $4 per bird. I would galdly pay the price even to eat my own bords as I hate killing them. Cleaning then etc doesn't bother me but I am not very good with the killing bit.

There is a "travelling abattoir" near here who will kill and butcher animals at home, but the owner looked at me like I was a lunatic when I asked him about doing chickens. If I'd had 70 instead of 7 I think he may have been more interested.

We ate the first of our birds last night. Even though it was overcooked thanks to the demands of my children, I could still taste the difference to shop-bought meat. More chickeny, somehow. My husband couldn't resist the comment, "Tastes like chicken". :roll:

My father took the feet home to eat and said they were amazingly good.

we kill our chickens/turkeys/ducks/geese by hanging them up by there feet using a length of heavy duty wire just bend it around each leg and have a hook at each end (i will post pics when i get a new camera ) and have different sizes for different birds we kill up to 15 at a time and you can even hang the birds from your clothsline i used to go to friends houses as a kid and kill their roosters for them

i would kill your birds for free rosemary if i was closer
if any one closer wants there birds killed i can do it for a small fee

You guys have got me worried. I got it right first go and now I'm beginning to wonder if that was just beginners luck and all the next ones are going to rupture.

I'm sure if I'm as careful as last time, all should be fine.

Those 13 week old chickens of mine have grown at an unbelievable rate and a couple are now BIGGER than the 18 week old cockerel I killed last week. Several are already taller.
