Just a Poll to see whats out there :-D

I would like to know what the status is for this beautiful group of birds, in Australia, so if you are not in Australia please do not add your birds to the poll, instead just post with what you have :mrgreen:

I would be very carful in posting here if you have native Australian Ducks and do not have a permit to keep them. Just a thought?

Hi

You will need to check with the relivent State Department in your State. Any birds that you buy will have to come from a captive bred flock, and the owner must have a permit to keep them you can't take them from the wild. People have been caught selling birds that they have taken from the wild and have claimed to have bred them themselves. You can't beat a DNA test. You must also have your permit in place before you purchase.

Do you know of someone who breeds them??
I already have the correct permit, and have been looking around for a supplier of the GPG, but to no avail, if they have them i have found most people keep quiet :roll:

I have raised and released Wood and Black ducks.

Wood duck ducklings were found where I expected them to be killed by cats, foxes etc and were raised free range until they flew away.

This harvest our wheat crops were full of Black duck nests, (never seen before, due to this years wet weather) which were sometimes seen after the header had been over and some eggs were not smashed. As all cover was also removed with harvest and the mothers did not come back I collected several eggs and put them in the incubator. I expected the ducklings to hang around when released when they were 4 weeks, but they left and moved to nearby channels and dams. I still see them regually, and they are doing very well.

I did not count these as kept, so did not vote in the poll.

i would like to get some, but i dont have a seure pen of the size they need with grazing requirementa and all :-D

I don't have them but I would like to get Green Pygmy Geese if they are available and are not too expensive and the licence isn't too hard to get?

Can you actually get a licence for half on that list?
I would put my hand up for many if the $$ were reasonalble
